What a win! I may have said that about the last away game at Doncaster but this was superb considering we were mi sing two key players with top goal scorer David McGoldrick serving a one match ban and James Baileys loan spell finished, but hopefully hell be back in January. The players that were needed to step up were fantastic; it was a great team performance even if it was a tad scrappy. If Mark Robins doesnt win manager of the month award for December then Ill have whatever the judges are having cause he is a footballing genius! On to the football side, John Fleck and Stephen Elliot came in for James Bailey and David McGoldrick; it was Elliot who nearly provided for Franck Mou sa but a last ditch tackle from one of the Dons defenders was enough to get it away. Coventry started very slow with some early pre sure from the home side from Daniel Powell who was there main threat in my opinion produced a good stop from Powells shot. The danger man made City pay as he twisted inside the Coventry left hand side and fired a low shot past Joe Murphy. City should have levelled though as Carl Baker floated corner was just an inch too high for Elliot who headed wide, if he was a foot behind from where he was he would have had a great chance to score. I thought we should have had a penalty as Elliot again was sandwiched together in the MK Dons box only for the referee to wave away any penalty shouts, thought the officials were quite poor too be honest. I wasnt complaining just after that though as Franck Mou sa scored a fantastic solo goal, just inside the Dons half he picked up the ball and ran all the way into the Dons box, beating the defenders in his way, nut megging Dean Lewington and smashing the ball into the top left hand side, look out for it on Football League Show people! It could have been worst for the home side as Gary McSheffrey brought out a comfortable save from keeper David Martin. Forgotten man Alan Smith who used to be kicking his heels in the Premier League was the only booking in the first half, it could Andreas Borgman Men Jersey have been more though, some naughty tackles flying in! Unfortunately the home side was back in front as some sloppy pa sing was closed down from MK Dons and on the break they scored through Ryan Lowe who scored a similar goal to his team mate, same corner and all.Half time came and not going to lie I was very worried about the second half but I didnt need to be! MK Dons almost scored just after the restart though as a Adam Chicksen cro s was headed by Dean Bowditch but luckily it flashed agonisingly wide. It was all Coventry after that with 2 quick consecutive goals from drafted in striker Stephen Elliot, Gary McSheffreys in swinging cro s was met by Elliot who rose highest than his marker to head home to send the 4988 away fans ballistic! There was even more of a uproar from the City fans as pouncing on a defensive error Elliot again ran into the box, cutting inside again and keeping his composure smashing hit shot past Martin and into the net sending the skyblue army into a stint of madne s, Elliot celebrated by running into the crowd, surprised he didnt get booked. That was about it for the second half and 51mins had only been played, the game was very scrappy and park the bus was pretty much enforced. The Dons tried to change it with Angelo Balanta, Zeli Ismail and Charlie MacDonald coming on for Alan Smith, Dele Ali and Ryan Lowe. Coventry brought on Roy ODonovan and Adam Barton for Stephen Elliot and Gary McSheffrrey who had already been booked along with Dons pair Chicksen and Lewington. With no scoreboard I didnt know how long was left so the second half dragged! Coming to the closing stages I think they should really have equalised as at the back post substitute Balanta was there to poke home thankfully he fluffed his shot. The Dons pretty much dominated the po se sion for most of the second half and City just hit them on the counter, Cyrus Christie nearly made them pay as he won the ball in his own half who then kept on running only for him to shoot a very ineffective shot at Martin. Coventrys box was bombarded late on with Martin coming up for consecutive corners but that was it. A very good defensive performance when needed. This also shows that we can cope without Tyler Bozak Women Jersey McGoldrick as he isnt likely to stay, onto Shrewsbury New Year Day! PUSB
